Mbps and MB/s
A Byte contains 8 bits. Divide Mbps by 8 to estimate the maximum decimal MB/s transfer rate.

Internet plans normally advertise speed in bits per second, while browsers and download apps often display bytes per second. This converter keeps those units separate and converts the same transfer rate across all supported formats.
Quick formula
One Byte contains 8 bits:
MB/s = Mbps ÷ 8
Mbps = MB/s × 8
Therefore 100 Mbps equals a theoretical maximum of 12.5 MB/s, 300 Mbps equals 37.5 MB/s, and 1 Gbps equals 125 MB/s.
Decimal and binary units
Kbps, Mbps, Gbps, KB/s, MB/s and GB/s use powers of 1000. KiB/s, MiB/s and GiB/s use powers of 1024. For example, 1 MiB/s equals 8.388608 Mbps rather than exactly 8 Mbps.
Why actual downloads can be slower
