How to change GIF speed

Choose a file, set the multiplier and select Generate preview. For example, 2× halves each frame’s display time, while 0.5× doubles it. Check the preview and download the new GIF. Every adjustment starts from your original file, not the previous output.

0.1–10×. Below 1 slows down; above 1 speeds up. 1× keeps standard frame delays.

Duration and playback limits

This tool changes timing, not image dimensions, and does not compress by dropping frames. Only delay fields are changed; standard controls are added if missing. Image data is not re-encoded and palettes are not regenerated. File size generally stays almost the same.

Delays are rounded to 10 ms steps. Durations are calculated from the file; actual playback depends on the browser.

Some frames have missing delays or delays below 20 ms. A 100 ms reference per frame is used before scaling. Original playback may vary between viewers.

Some frames reach the delay limits (20–655350 ms). The output may not reach the requested speed. No frames are automatically removed.

Previews play independently and may not be synchronized. Original loop counts are kept; a single-play GIF may quickly stop on its last frame.

Privacy and supported files

Files and results stay in this page and are released when cleared or when you leave. Only GIF is supported; convert other formats first. Plain-text extensions, frames waiting for user input and unknown extensions are unsupported. A single-frame GIF can be saved, but changing its timing does not create animation.
