Start a listening round

Choose the beginner set, letters, numbers or a mixed set. Set speed and volume, then start ten questions. Press play, listen to the whole rhythm, enter one character and check it. Latin answers are case-insensitive. Replays have no penalty, and each question can be scored only once.

Alphabet and character speed

This tool covers international Morse A–Z and 0–9 only. Changing the interface language does not change the alphabet; Japanese and Cyrillic characters are not included. The beginner set is E, T, A, N, I, M, not a complete Koch course. Dot duration is 1200/WPM milliseconds. A dash lasts three dots, and the gap within a character lasts one dot. Since each question contains one character, the tool does not measure word spacing or effective copying speed.

Scoring and retrying mistakes

An incorrect answer or revealing the answer counts as a miss. Feedback shows the correct character and its dots and dashes. Advance manually; the next question does not autoplay. Results use only answered questions, so ending early excludes unanswered items. The retry list contains distinct missed characters, each asked once in a fresh scored round. Restarting also resets the score.

Sound controls

The tone is fixed at 600 Hz, with character speeds from 5 to 40 WPM. Start at a comfortable low volume and listen for the whole pattern. Changing speed or volume stops current playback; press play again. Backgrounding the page also stops sound. If silent, check device mute, audio output, browser settings and the volume slider. Zero volume is silent.

Local processing and related tools

Your browser generates the tone and checks answers locally. No microphone or file upload is needed. Progress is not saved to an account or persistent storage and disappears on reload or navigation. To create message audio, use the Morse converter. For an existing recording, use the audio decoder.
